Cork Coaster

Post by KarenVA »

I made this for a friend--it's a design from Pickle Pie Designs. I have never embroidered on cork before and was amazed at how nicely it worked!

That's neat! I've seen a lot of people use cork, but I never have.

I used one layer of WSS stabilizer, a 14/90 topstitch needle, and Kingstar metallic thread. It gives a placement line for placing a square of cork, then the tackdown stitch, stitch the monogram, then tape another square of cork on the back of the hoop, and do the last triple stitch outline around the edge. Then, take the design out of the hoop and use a sharp scissors to cut about 1/8" around the outline stitches. And, you are done! It was fast--about 15 minutes!!
