School shirts 2023

Post by ShirleyC »

These are what I've done so far. I still have a few more plus Ellie's sweater. The 4 on the bottom are for my friend's granddaughter that just moved back here.

Ellie started today. I figured she'd choose the black shirt because she loved the Tigers design on it.
I added Mattie in the comments below.

Edited to add Mattie's first day!

Ellie's first day!
I added a pic of her sweater. Their classrooms sometimes get really cold.

I love every one of them. I love how they are able to personalize the shirts a bit. I do love uniforms for school and letting them show a little personality on their shirts is a nice option.

Up here most schools that do uniforms have the school logo on them or nothing allowed. She is a cutie!

Great job on all! Love the First Day of School pennant, too! Did you make it?

I admire you for embroidering knit shirts. I always stressed more over those. I am often encouraged to start a side hustle, and do embroidery/monogramming for friends and family. I know there would be knits involved, and not sure that work would be any more pleasant than the drama at the store!

Wishing Ellie a wonderful and safe school year!

Jan, knits are easy! I print the design and spray a little sticky spray on the back so I when I place it, it will stay, but I also pin it. I hoop mesh stabilizer (it doesn't show through whites). I spray the stabilizer with the spray. (I use the Spray n bond). I put the shirt on it, and measure all around for straightness. These are easy to get straight because of the button up placket. I put a piece of Sulky Teareasy under the hoop and Solvy on top. I did all of these in my 4 x 6 hoop so that makes hooping even easier. Once I clean the stabilizers off, and trim the mesh, I iron on Fuse So Soft to cover the back side that goes next to their skin.
I didn't do the banner. I guess Alyssa did or bought it.

Nancy, when we were teaching, we were so glad when the school board voted in uniforms. Even in 5th grade, you wouldn't believe some of the stuff kids would wear. That also cut out all of the sagging pants which was a major problem here.

Wow! What a wonderful job you’ve done on them all. It will be a daily debate as to which one to wear. Lol. I loved the grandchildrens sewing when they were small.
